Welcome Feverchild to Sunday Drive Records

Posted on August 17th, 2021

We are pleased to welcome Belgium post-hardcore/emo band, Feverchild to Sunday Drive Records. Feverchild's S/T EP sounds like it came out in the mid–late '90s, during the boom of post-hardcore and emo bands. As common as this phrase is, rarely does it accurately describe new music, it's sort of an easy, go-to reference, but that's not the case for Feverchild. Their record literally sounds like it came out in the '90s and you probably wouldn't be able to tell otherwise. Once you look a little more into the band though, it begins to make sense how the bands perfectly captured this era.

Many members of Feverchild came from other Belgium hardcore bands, like Minded Fury, Force, and Animal Club, plus the EP was recorded by Oathbreaker's, Gilles Demolder. With this foundation in hardcore—like most bands of that era (Texas Is The Reason, Far Apart, Sunny Day Real Estate, etc.)—and a strong love for the genre, Feverchild has written an EP full of clean/heavy guitars and catchy vocal melodies that easily get stuck in your head. The journey from the opening track, 'Stargazing' to the closer, 'Be My Epilogue', is straightforward, moody, full of melody and is one that you'll want to repeat again and again.

Today, you can listen to their self-titled EP, Feverchild, and pre-order the cassette tape and shirts.

Welcome Still to Sunday Drive Records

Posted on August 3rd, 2021

We are pleased to welcome St.Louis, MO shoegaze band, Still to Sunday Drive Records. Influenced by popular Creation Records bands like Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, and Ride, songwriters, Michael Hoeltge, Ben Koeing, David Shanle (New Lives, Time and Pressure), and Chris Wright get everything right about classic shoegaze—heavy guitars, soothing vocals, and lots of noise, while still managing to get songs stuck in your head. While shoegaze can sometimes be seen as a cliché in 2021, the band hits all the right notes here. Their new single, Heavy is out now with their debut EP, “Faint” to arrive later this year.

Welcome Broken Head to Sunday Drive Records

Posted on July 13th, 2021

We are pleased to welcome Massachusetts alternative-rock band, Broken Head to Sunday Drive Records. Songwriters, Rob Hooper (Caught In A Crowd) and Alessio Tranchell do an amazing job at pulling in sonic influences from 90's alternative-rock bands like Catherine Wheel and Swervedriver. On their latest EP, “Sungazer” the band easily delivers on this sound, however, do an amazing job in crafting their own sound from their catchy melodies and pacing. Starting with the upbeat single, ‘Rinse’ and ending with the melodic, emo-tinged, ‘Atlas’, “Sungazer” keeps the listener engaged and left with the songs stuck in their head.

Today, you can listen to their EP, Sungazer, and order the cassette tape from our Distro. Their first release on Sunday Drive Records comes this fall.

Welcome Sparing to Sunday Drive Records

Posted on June 29th, 2021

We are pleased to welcome North Carolina alternative-rock band, Sparing to Sunday Drive Records. Drawing influence from the late 90’s and early 2000’s rock scene. Aiming to bring back the aesthetics and ethos of the Drive-Thru Records era. With heavy inspiration pulling from bands such as The Early November, Finch, Home Grown & Hawthorne Heights. Sparing find’s themselves carving a path all their own.

What once began as a solo project for vocalist Zach Godwin, releasing 3-song demo “Grave” in 2019, has since grown into the newly minted band we find today.

With Sparing truly forming in a year where no shows are happening, they hold true to their passion and drive for what comes next. With all members being a part of NC Hardcore band Thirteenth, they aim to hit the ground running with the same attitude they’ve brought into their other musical projects.

Their new EP, “Old Dreams” releases July 30th, 2021. Sparing finds themselves doubling down on what made their demo stick. Personal lyrics with ear-worm choruses, heavy riffing – paying homage to influences like Superheavenand Jawbreaker. With tracks like “Colorblind” utilizing catchy pop punk instrumentals, overlaid with Smashing Pumpkins inspired guitar harmonies. The music suggests a return to a golden world before things were black and white.

“Old Dreams” is available for pre-order now on cassette tape.

SDR Partners w/ Deathwish Direct for Distribution

Deathwish Direct and Sunday Drive Records Partnership

We're excited to announce today that Sunday Drive Records has partnered with Deathwish Direct for worldwide physical & digital distribution. This has been a huge goal of mine for the past few years. It was important to me to partner SDR with a company that had the same DIY values and ethos that we've operated with for the past six years, and Deathwish Direct perfectly fits this description. We have a lot of new music on the way and it's exciting to have the opportunity have our artists' music more accessible to listeners and record stores.

What does this mean?

All SDR releases will be physically and digitally distributed via Deathwish Direct. This means our releases will now be much more accessible for record stores to purchase and carry in-store, including stores in Europe. Deathwish Direct offers worldwide physical distribution and solicits to over 600 stores weekly. SDR will be joining Deathwish Direct's roster, including labels like REACT!, Reaper Records, Secret Voice, Dark Medicine + more.

Can I still purchase records directly from SDR?

Absolutely. SDR will continue to operate mailorder for the SDR webstore.

Can I buy SDR releases directly from Deathwish?

Yes! And we encourage it. Deathwish not only carries DW releases and SDR releases, but albums from hundreds of artists and labels within the punk/hardcore & alternative genre. You can pick up a bunch of records at one site while supporting all of the labels/artists involved.

Will SDR releases now be available at my local record store?

We hope so! While Deathwish Direct continues to sell directly to local stores, asking your store by word of mouth is always super helpful and will help get our records into more stores like yours. You can ask for any of our releases to be ordered and your store should be able to order them at wholesale via Deathwish Direct. Contact info is below:
